Previous Names For Realm:
Atlantis is, without question, one of the most unique realms that has connected to the Dreamworld within the lifespan of the Second Dreamwalker Order. As a planet, it is almost entirely oceanic— all of the liveable, farmable land was created during the time of the Old Order by Odyssian meddling under their guise as gods, and prior to that there simply was almost no land at all. Of the species that live in Atlantis, only two are native to the realm, with the Locri being brought there by the “Ancients,” which is the realm’s colloquial name for the Odyssian Dreamwalkers who were worshiped by the Locri. In the course of things, all three of the Atlantean peoples worked together to kill the Ancients and cast them to the bottom of the sea for their crimes, never to be seen again. Some time afterwards the realm was Collected and was subsequently in stasis until its release from the Collector’s custody. While many realms have had interference on various levels by the Old Order, Atlantis has certainly had what most of us would consider to be a lot.
The Locri are the most “standard” looking of the Atlantean species, being bipedal mammalian humanoids. The Locri are the newest species in Atlantis, being a creation of the Ancients, and are the reason for the existence of Ivory Haven above water (as they are one of the two non-aquatic sentient species.) They are known for being resourceful and crafty.
Reptilian in nature, while still otherwise following the usual structural arrangement regarding limb numbers and placement, the Leviathans are the second non-aquatic sentient species. They have fleets of ships and are highly adaptable following the way of the Chameleon. Their pigment can change often.
Mersapiens are one of the only non-humanoid sentient species that we have seen in realms that have connected to the Dreaming, having humanoid torsos with fish-like lower halves (approximately from the waist downward). The Mersapiens are the only fully-aquatic sentient species in Atlantis, with the ability to breathe underwater and fish tails designed for maneuverability in aqueous environments. As a result, most Mersapiens have difficulty functioning above water for long periods of time.
While not a truly separate species, the Octopod subspecies of the Mersapiens do require their own section; rather than the typical bony fish bodies of most Merfolk, Octopods present much more similarly to a “squid” or “octopus,” having many legs/tentacles rather than a single scaled tail. They are significantly less common than fish Mersapians, which has led many in their realm to consider them omens of bad luck or (in more severe cases), impending doom. Such superstitions are, needless to say, unfounded.
The Calydon League is a collection of allied Mersapien city-states bound by draconian laws and an artificial, murky caste system kept in place by their stalwart dedication to enforcing the roles of its people in the machine of governance, insisting that it benefits all of the League when it only truly benefits those who are chosen to rule.
Led by those who are assessed to be “best” to rule, the Council makes decisions and laws via unified unanimous votes or not at all. The capital is Paphassus. Hierarchies in Country
It is theoretically a meritocracy where the people who would be best at tasks end up at their tasks. Citizens are given all they need by the government, provided that they follow the path that was set before them by said government.
Our first two extant Dreamwalkers post-Flood are both Calydonian citizens, although from what Kraken has said, in his case that is only because permanent exile is something that the laws of the League do not allow for without due cause (which the council does not in fact have).
As the Calydon League is entirely underwater, it is wholly composed of Mersapiens (being the only people capable of living there.) Additionally, they also have the most Tidecallers and Deep Shamans in Atlantis.
Lieutenant Morvarid bint Ardvisura bint dabeh al-Kamaliazad, Mersapian, citizen of the Calydon League. Archivist, skilled tactician, Master of Polearms.
Wrasse
Kraken (birth name Vritra Razdan) Mersapian, citizen of the Calydon League. Shipwright, businessman, salvager, purveyor of hot sauce.
Yellow Blue Ringed Octopus (occasionally called the “Gloctopus”)
While not technically a nation as one might normally consider, the Free Port of Sanguine is a major power within Atlantis and its politics and commerce, much to the chagrin of the rest of Atlantis. While several nations have voiced a desire that this port be wiped off the map, simple geography makes it a difficult proposition. The harbor has one entrance, and the underwater caves and passageways are far too numerous and confusing to be mapped.
There is no government in Sanguine. There is no ruling body, there is no law. There is only what you can and cannot do based on your own personal moral code, strength of arms in combat and what you think you can get away with.
Essentially none, although there are various and sundry notable (or rather notorious) parties who have made their names known in the Port and in the rest of Atlantis. See ancillary document.
Unclear, likely minimal.
All sentient species are represented in Sanguine. Most other nations consider the entire port to be entirely filled with Pirates and degenerates, but this is not the case. A not insignificant portion of the people in Sanguine are refugees from Calydon waters who could not stand the total control their government demands over their futures.

The Gorgine Republic is a moving civilization, settled on the back of Gorgine the Crag (one of the Behemoths that haunts the oceans of Atlantis, and the only one that has been tamed) after the destruction of their previous home by the raising of Ivory Haven.
Unclear, other than the Behemoth that the Republic is built on (who probably should be considered less of a “leader” and more of a “landmark”). The capital of Gorgine is Rustic Harbor.
The societal structure of the Gorgine Republic is broken into a strict caste structure, of Artisans/Performers (Ophidia) Warriors (Gekkota) and Merchants (Acroda).
There have been Leviathan Dreamwalkers within our order, but their names escape me at this junction. To the best of my knowledge, Gorgine’s only other direct relevance is in being the primary casualty of Odessian interference in the realm.
The Gorgine Republic is the primary population center for the Leviathans.
Ivory Haven is a series of islands (in fact, the only real islands in Atlantis) located in the Salmir Sea.
Oligarchical, presumably led by those who are of the highest tier of citizenship (as oligarchies tend to be.) The capital of Ivory Haven is Pylos.
There are different “tiers” of citizenship, although Kraken was unable to provide specifics.
They have an odd relationship to the Ancients, who as we know were Dreamwalkers of the Odessian Pantheon. Their history teaches that the Ancients raised the Islands they live on up out of the Salmir Sea and gave them the great bounty, prosperity and such that they enjoy, but also that it came at such great cost that they sided against their creators in the war.
Ivory Haven is entirely populated by Locri.
Aristocleites, deceased
A theocratic, icy hellscape. It is designed for usage by both Mersapiens and Locri, as those are the two species who live in Teresh. The ice is likely a primary reason for the comparatively high concentration of the Scions of Helios, a type of Atlantean solar and flame mage, among their populace. The capital is Lebamos.
Teresh is ruled by a “divinely-chosen” God-Monarch known as the Akhu.
Unclear, but likely based around the worship of the Akhu and the Neteru
At least prior to the Flood, the Akhu was the current custody-holder of Queen Magginog III. Additionally, most Tereshi believe that the near-extinction of the Leviathans was divine will, and that the Neteru (their name for the Ancients) were in fact not wrong for this action. This makes them an outlier among most of Atlantis, given that everyone else is largely in agreement that the Ancients were awful on at least some level.
I am unclear on whether Leviathans are not permitted into Teresh or if they simply do not wish to be in a country that views their continued lives as an affront to the divine, but either way the population is Mersapien and Locri only.
The furthest northern country, Zagros is perhaps the richest of the Atlantean nations; trading in gold, soil from the bottom of the sea, and ice that they use a special and highly protected magic to keep cold for nigh unlimited amounts of time. Capital is Basila.
Unclear from the information that Kraken has provided.
Another meritocracy, for some seas-forsaken reason.
Unclear, likely minimal.
Leviathan and Locri
Xiata
Our oldest tales say Atlantis was a utopia. Whether that's true or not is up for debate, but the world was nearly all water with a few scattered islands above. The native species, Leviathans and Mersapiens, lived in relative peace with each other. Then a species that is primarily called the Ancients came and generally screwed up everything. They decided this place was their toy and they’d do as they pleased, creating the Locri and raising up islands for them to live on. Never mind that in doing so the tsunami they caused nearly destroyed the Leviathans and the sudden mountains upended the underwater cities of the Mersapians. There are few records of the war that followed, but we do know the Locri sided with the natives of Atlantis and the Ancients were defeated. They were cast into the deepest parts of the Atlantean depths.
The Maelstrom Fleet
By tapping into, observing and manipulating the Eternal Current, the Tidecallers are able to predict and change future events in Atlantis. Tales say that they used to be able to do more, (Tame Behemoths, open interdimensional portals) but much of this magic has been lost over time. Rare outside the Calydon League, they enjoy unheard of freedoms there but can be found almost anywhere.
Found almost exclusively in the Calydon League waters due to their need for access to the Ocean floor, they use elemental magic and exist in a tribal culture, coming together when a crisis requires it.
Founded in Teresh, they manipulate heat and fire to make their cold lands more habitable and more able to grow and sustain crops.
Unsure what the official name for this is, but it can freeze things for nigh unlimited amounts of time. This has never been replicated anywhere else and on a world without refrigeration or electricity this is a pricey commodity.
Giant creatures that can leave a swath of destruction in their wake. They can come in multiple shapes as seen by Gorgine the Crag and others. They are perhaps the most dangerous creatures in Atlantis. The Calydon Navy deploys to protect their people and allies against them, and in previous years they used to attempt to hunt them down. They cannot see the color yellow.
There are some unsubstantiated theories that they are somehow connected to the Maelstrom Fleet, but no solid evidence has been presented as of yet.
A huge variety of avian life thrives on Atlantis. Some land dwelling, adapted solely for that and others for more aquatic living. Living and flying over water, coming on land and sandbars to lay eggs. The aquatic birds have water repellent feathers that are highly prized by the above water sapient natives for such qualities, being able to stay dry is lovely on an aquatic world.
Far less common than the other animals, the land dwelling ones are primarily rodent like creatures, but there are the domura. A large dangerous mammal that hunts other animals for prey and is a danger to sapients on land, it has tusks and has been compared to a “Wild Boar”. In the water there are whales, sea lions and seals, hunted by sapients and occasionally hunters of sapients.
It would be impossible to talk about the animals of Atlantis without discussing fish. There are innumerable species of fish, some so small it would take a magnifying glass to see, others dwarf the Leviathan's largest boats. They come in nearly every size, shape, color, diet and habitat. They comprise the main dietary consumption for most of the population of Atlantis.
Different species of frogs, snakes, newts etc are on the many islands of Atlantis. Many small and difficult to spot, some islands have the frog like amadag that has become a domestic animal. Used for almost every aspect of its body, (meat, hide, bones, teeth) wild ones can grow to be up to 400 lbs and can be a danger to sapients.
