Elder daughter of Macha, one of the heroes of the Alshee, and first bearer of the Crown of Winter’s Grace. Khione and Gaimraith were called on to perform the Crown Ritual in conjunction with the Pact of the Elemental Courts.

Khione was later killed by Gaimraith for her overly diplomatic approach to the other courts and her unwillingness to bring Sorl Puck to trial for the theft of the Crown of Spring Everlasting. She had asked Gaimraith to meet her in the Cauldron of Dagdamor, where the two ended up in an argument which Gaimraith ended by telling Khione “I forgive you” and stabbing her in the back, The Crown then had half of its power taken by the Crown of Winter Frost, was renamed the Crown of the Winter Maiden, and was given to Khione’s disciple Sios. Khione’s true fate was not discovered until much later, and discussion of her was banned in the Winter Court.
