Solus/Ifrit

The First Primordial of Plasma, and progenitor of the mantle, was Solus, Spirit of Aspiration, the oldest of the four Matter State Primordials. After coming into existence and claiming his mantle, Solus toiled for eons to create the stars and added structure to the universe inspired by the concepts of his predecessors, the Primordials of Life, Death, and Destruction for the cosmic soup.

Solus was closest with Nimbus and Rusalka who came into existence soon after him, being that the three were part of the same tri-part concept cluster (Plasma, Gas, Liquid). Solus became ill or was poisoned by someone who coveted the stars for themselves as by the time that civilizations came sound and established, Primordials were already being hunted for their mantles and as trophies as a result of their status as being unique in the universe. Although the metaphysical specifics of why/how are unclear, the illness/harm caused Solus to drastically change, turning bitter and angry and ultimately transforming into Ifrit (If-reet), Spirit of Ambition, with the intention of retaking the stars from the undeserving universe he had made them for. Ifrit’s madness eventually drove Orion, at that point a (presumed) Mystic, to seek blessings of approval from the other three matter state primordials for him to make an attempt at neutralizing Ifrit before he could harm the universe any further. While none of them were enthusiastic about the prospect, Orion succeeded in his trials and was given three blessings: from Rusalka he earned a bow made of mercury which could fire any projectile to hit any target, from Atlas he received a quiver fashioned out of Atlas’s own Cloak of Travel, and from Nimbus he received a Jug filled with an endless supply of Living Breath. The final blessing he received in this quest was from Hel, first Queen of the Underworld, who gave him a set of arrows enchanted with the magic of Erebus.1)

Armed thusly with these artifacts, Orion drew Ifrit to the Bleak Pools of Erebus and the two battled, with Orion emerging victorious. After taking the Mantle of Plasma from Ifrit, Orion offered to return the Mantle and help Ifrit return to his previous life as Solus, as he had only wanted to restore balance to the universe rather than seeking the power bestowed by the mantle. Instead, Ifrit attacked Orion and tried to grab Rusalka’s gift, the Mercury Bow, in an attempt to attack Orion while he was caught off guard. The bow itself retaliated, causing him great pain where he had touched it. The shock caused him to lose his footing and Ifrit fell backwards into the Bleak Pools of Erebus, dying.

When Ifrit died, his body turned into golden salamanders, and Lesser Fire Elementals, known as Magnetars, first appeared after his passing.

The specifics of how this magic worked were unclear, but it's a logical extrapolation that they were similar in function to Cerberus Strike. - Earwyna
